The vicar of Creditou, Prebendary Smitli-Dorrien, wished to trace a missing document of th'e tinie of Edward VI iinong the church archives. He asked the help of Miss Cresswell,,an 1 archaeological expert, and although they did- not find the missing document they came across the Coverdale letters together villi two other .documents of. local interest.
