AUSTRALIAN LABOUR CONFERENCE Melbourne, April 21. The Labour Conference passed a resolution urging the repeal of the. compulsory clauses of the Defenoe Act, that the franchise should be granted to all persons at the age of eighteen, and that all shipping should lie nationalised.—Press Assn.

Emery, Parliamentary UnderSecretary' to the Colonies, the necessity for preferential treatment for colonialgrown sugar. The proceedings were private. . A verdict of found drowned was returned at the inquest on Privato Daniel Scheehan. a Now Zealander, whose body was discovered in the Thames. The Coroner said that suicide was unlikely.
