PRELIMINARY TRIALS

It seems likely that Raynham and llawkcr will fly' simultaneously. Raynham has shown his confidence in his ability to fly across the Atlantic by wagering <£50 on his success. Raynham has made a similar bet that Hawker will also succeed — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. A HANDLEY PAGE COMPETITOR, (Reo. April 22, 1.20 a.m.) New York, April 18. A New York "Times" telegram from St. John's slates ,tliat preparations are being mado for the arrival of a Handley l'ago aeroplane, which is expected from England on May 1 for tho purpose of competing in the "Daily Mail" prize,. The Atlantic flight will be started from Conception Bay—Aus.-N.Z. Cable - Assn. DAWN OF CIViUIR TRAFFIC SERVICES ANNOUNCED: London, April 15. In view of the approaching permission of civil flying, many firms announco the beginning of services. Some are to bo fhort pleasure trips, while others are for business -purposes, one being, between London and Paris. Circular- services through London, Bristol, Plymouth,, and Brighton, and also northern circuits are announced. Some firms announce that machines and pilots may be hired by the day or hour.—Aus.-N.Z.
