UNiVERSITY DEBATING CONTEST
WON BY VICTORIA COLLEGE,

Dunedin, April 21. The inter-university debating contest was held in the Allen Hall to-night. The speakers were:-Auckland, G. D. Billhouse and C. J. J. Garland; Otago, A. B. Kilroy and W. J. P. Morell; Canterbury, A. Paterson and J. C. Dickinson; Victoria College, E. livans and W. E. Leicester. The subject was That the League of Nations is necessary to promote the 'moral and economic welfare of mankind." After two hours' keen and interesting disputation, the judge declared the following, result —Victoria College, first; Auckland, second; Cante.r. bury and Otago (equal), third.
