I The Home Eule Bill was passed in three sessions of Parliament by the House of Commons, and three times rejecled by (lie House of Lords, but under the provisions of the Parliament Act received the Hoyal Assent ou September 18, 1914. At the eame time the Suspension Act was passed. That Act ordored that no steps should te taken to put Home Rule into effect for at least twelve mouthe. If the war was not then <ver the operation of the Act was to be deferred by Ordei'-in-Couneil, but not bfc yowl the'end of the war, The Suspension Act was introduced by the Government in. order to ovcwime the opposition ol the Unionist Party (which is now in the majority) to tho Home Rule Bill.]
