' Official.—General Pan, and the other members of the French Mission' which recentlv' returned from New Zealand, were entertained at dinner by Mr. Mashcv and his staff, who, in the meantime, were the only members of the New Zealand delegation in Varis. In responding to the toast of his health. General Pan referral to 'he generous rocention accorded to his mission in the Dominion, and to (he pleasure he had derived from the rare,natural features of New Zealand and from an instructional- study of the notable development of the coui-.try and the happy treatment of the Native race. He eulogised the- courage, the fighting capacity, and the discipline of (he New Zealand soldiers on the battlefields of France, where common sacrifice and cooperation had brought the two countries closer together. Mr. Jfasscv said that New Zealand had watched with keen interest and practical sympathy the terrible ordeal thrust on France, which had emerged with triumph.- He hoped that France and liritaiii would be Allies for all time, and I'hat "ii worthy pence would be secured.
