RUGBY UNION
MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of tho Wellington Rugby Union was held last evening, Mr. W. F. Hornig presiding. Donations of £3 3s. and .£2 2s. were granted to St. John's Ambulance and the I'etone Ambulance respectively for the IMB season. Air. J. Prendeville was elected to the vacancv on tho committee created by the resignation of Mr. C. Russell, who found he was unable to sit owing to pressure of work. The application of a player of the Berhampore Club for permission to play under Rugby rules again after having played as a substitute in a League match was held over for consideration at a future meeting. The application of the Berhampore Club for the use of Athletic Park on Wednesday evenings was granted. The I'etone Club wrote, asking the union to removo the disqualification of certain members of the Petone junior team who are under suspension for the first three playing Saturdays of tho season. It was decided to take no action.
It was decided to renew the agreement made last season in the matter of suspensions and disqualifications imposed upon persons, ''The agreement is between the Rugby Union, the Football Association and the Hockey Association. A letter was received from the sccrerarv of the New Zealand Maori (Pioneer) Battalion, stating that it was proposed to send a Maori team on a. New Zealand tour during May and June, and suggesting a match with a Wellington representative team. After consideration it was decided to submit Juno 3 as the most suitablo date for the match in Wellington.
Permission was granted the Ponekfe Club to play a match on Easter Saturdnv with the Pirates Football .Club at l'almerston North. Permission was also granted tho Marist Bros. Old Boys' Club to travel to Wanganui during Easter to play the club's annual match with the Marist team of Wanganui. The following practice games have been arranged for Saturday next:—Oriental v. Selwyn, v at Athletic Park No. 1; Athletic v. Wellington, at Athletic Park No. 2.. ' ' Entries for' club competitions and the seven-a-side tourney close on April 22.
