BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR
IDENTIFIED AS MB- ROBERT C. NIVEN.
■A body was found floating in the.harbour near Clyde Quay s'«terday morninc. It was secured bv the police, and taken to the morgue, where it wassubsequently identified as that of Mr. Roberta Niven. formerly chief clerk in the Goy eminent Life Insurance Department, but who retired from the service some time US Wr. 'Niven suffered acutely from influenza last year, and as the result had ken a victim to nervous prostrat on e>er ..luce. He had been 11. poor health latelv. Ho was at home (in Kent lerj'ace) 011 Sunday mgnt, but eft the house early in the morning, whilst Mrs. Niven was still asleep, and the assumption is that he must huvo.throtni himself into the harbour. An inquest will bo h The late Mr. Niven, who was 59 years of age, was for many years a well-known representative cricketer both, in Ota„o and Wellington. He was considerea one of the smartest \ricketkeepers_ ever seen in New Zealand. Mr. Niven joined tho Provincial Government Service inl in 1875. and retired 111 Octobei, 1915. m leaves a widow, but no family. A brother, Dr. D. Niven, also well Known in Wellington, resides at Tauranga.
