CHARGE OF FABRICATING REPORTS
MADE AGAINST AN AMERICAN' AIRMAN. By Tcleßmph-Press AssoclaMon-Oopyrkst London, April 3 (delayed). _ An amazing story was told at an American naval court-martial on Captain Chamberlain, who is charged with fabileating reports of his aerial exploits whilst on nu unofficial visit to a British 6quadron. The charges arose owing to unsuccessful efforts to confirm his remarkable statements in order to recommend Chamberlain for honour. Chamberlain told the newspapers a graphic story of his exploits. He said lie bombed una blew up a train, and engaged in a fight with two other Allied pilots against twelve German aeroplanes, and brought down seven. Later ho machine-gunned and scattered a body of enemy troops. Ho landed in a fire-swept wheatfiokl, and bluffed three Germans by pretending that his compass was a grenade. Ho tool: one a prisoner and tho others fed. Chamberlain then rescued ■ a French colonial, who was wounded, and dragged him into tho French lines.
