THE DUSTMEN'S DISPUTE
+ . / Iu connection with the Wellington Crty Corporation's dustmen's dispute, which concerns a demand for M per week instead of the existing- J23 Us. 3d, representatives of the men waited upon the Finance Committee of the City Council yesterday afternoon. After the meeting the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) stated that no information as'to the men'being dissatisfied with, their, wages reached the Finance Comroitteo until last Monday week, and the fact■that:the committee did not report'to the council on the matter at last Thursday's meeting-was really in tho interests of the men. The matter was held up in order to get information as to the attitude of the Arbitration Court as to the vrnsos of unskilled workers in relation to the cost of living. Tho Court had already given a ruling concerning skilled workers, but it had not clearly defined the position of the -unskilled worker. The matter is still beiiiK held up for Hint information. There ,wil! be another meeting of tho Pinaneu/C'onmrittee to-day to further consider the mutter.
