The Church of Christ evangelist (Jlr. Frederick Marshall.) was the recipient, of a purse of sovereigns Irani the members of his congregation last week. Since Mr. Marshall tooK over the duties at I'etoni! and Lower Hutt the church work lias taken a new lease of life, nnd the above token was spontaneous desire on the part of his people to sightly their appreciation of his many good qualilies. During the evening several vocal items were rendered, and light refreshin'iiiits were provided 'by the ladies.
Mm. Robertson, the popular scout mistress of Lower Jlutt, proposes taking up her residence in Wellington this month.
At the Umpire Theatre, l.'etone, tonight, an address will be ..given by. Br. Platts-Mills, whose subject will be "Alcohol and Inlhrnnza," and Miss M'Loan, M.A., who will speak on '.'ljlliciency and Liquor."
