THK PROHIBITION. POLL.' ' A few facts about Saskatchewan's liquor experiments are intensely interesting. Up till July, 1915, the licensing system, in operation was along 6iimmr linoa to the present New Zealand licensing system. Then from July, 1915, the open bar was cut out, and Slate control introduced. State control, under Government supervision, operated until December, 1917, when a referendum was taken on-(l) Prohibition; (2) State Control The result was the overwhelming defeat of the liquor trade in any shape or form. In some of tho places where the State-owned houses were doing the bi'gest trade the majorities against them were highest. In eeveral localities the vote was as high as nine-tenths against them!—Advt.
