SUDAN UNITED MISSION

LANTERN LECTURE. A lantern lecture will be given in the Y.M.C.A., Willis Street, to-night, by Sliss L. F. Boniwell, organising secretary of the Sudan United Mission. This, mission is a united -enterprise which has _aa its object the Teaching of the 40 millions of people in equatorial Africa before they are Avon over to Mohammedanism. The official representatives of tho leading missionary societies gathered in conference in-1904, recognised, the. evil conse-1 quences, political, moral, and spiritual,that would arise if the advance of Islam in Africa , continued, but they felt that their societies were unable separately to interfere. They agreed to'.tho formation of a United-Mission, to : 'be undenominational in. character, but-to take .equal' rank with tho existing missions. Miss Boniwell is the organising secretary for New Zealand, and in order' to secure tho success of this tuition is touring tho North aud South Islands, lecturing on the field of operations. A special area is to 'bo allotted to New Zealand, and an endeavour will bo made to send cut missionaries from the Dominion. 1 Miss Uonhvell's lecture is siiid to bo a real treat, and her slides exceptionally good. A collection will be taken up in aid of tho funds of the mission.
