SCOTS COLLEGE BARRACKS

■During this week tlio boys of Scots College have booh under strict military discipline. Tim lessons ami text-books were banished to make way for military drill, which terminated yesterday, after four days' strenuous training. Groat improvement was noticed in the cadets, who were very keen and eager for the work, and won the praiso of their instructors for the success of the first barracks held at the college. Early in the morning d sick parade in the orderly room was held in proper military fashion, and at the latter various miiior breaches of military discipline were adequately punished. Yesterday n team of six cadets fired a match against two civilian teams, winning each comfortably. In one match the scores were: Cadets, 132; civilians, 87; possible, IBS. Several chatty matches were arranged among tlio cadets, the winning team being that captained by Sergeant E. Mitchell. .The instruction in infantry drill and musketry was well impressed by sergeant-major instructors of Group 5, while physical drill under Mr. A.. A. Thompson, of the college staff, was of a high standard. Tlio system was that introduced bv Captain Brock at Trentham. During tho afternoon a number of parents and friends viewed, the cadets' work and were the guests of tho collego at afternoon tea.
