PEACE CELEBRATIONS
LOWER HUTT UOMMITTKE,
A meeting was held r.t Lower Hutt on Thursday evening for the purpose or further considering the peace, celeb aUons. The Mayor (Mr. 11; P. Rishworth) presided. The following committees were appointed —Service Committee, Messrs. Campbell (convciiei'l, A'. Uondon, AY ray, West, Hardy, Hitthimnce, Mcldrum, Vrotliev, Dempsey, and Heyes; finance, Messrs! H. Baldwin (convener), A\ ray, M'Bain, S. Clendon; sports, Messrs. (convener), Olson, Trim, Davidson, JJoran, and Huthnnnce; procession. Messrs. herr (convener), Clendon, cod Olson. • Mr. H. Baldwin was appointed marshal for the procession. Tho scoutmaster advised that ho would be willing lortho scouts to take part in the procession. Mr AV T. Strand offered to obtain a supply of milk, free, lend three portable boilers, and to take charge ot the hot water and tea. It was ar.recd to provide, one meal to the children and a cup ol 'tea for the adults. Other provisions with milk and sugar, are lo be brought by those who conic. It was decided to have a bonfire on tho Recreation Ground, mid residents" to be asked to advise Mr. Clendon a.s to Rifts of fuel for same. It was deeidcil also to aslc the Borough Council to stop vehicular Irnlhc oil the main street between Laiug's Road and Queen's Road while tho children were in that, neighbourhood. -'.I.lie sports committee whs given £20, to be spent oil pri7.es, etc., and Mr. Campbell was authorised to purchase 1500 Hags. Prizes are to be given for Taney costumes, boys and girls. The Mayor consented to givo a short address In the children from Iho balcony of the Town Hall.
