The Auckland-owned sohooncr Northern Chi6f. ivliich left Auckland nearly five months aso for San Francisco, via Niikualofa (Friendly Islands) has not replied San Francisco yet (eaye the Auckland "Herald"). She was formerly a barque and then a coal hulk in Auckland Harbour. In Ojtobcr last she was refitted and risked as a three-masted fore and att schooner and left Auckland on her first voyage in that rig on November 11. She reached Tonga as the cnidemic broke out there and was delayed for 53 days owinjt to there being no labour to load her with copra. She eventualy sailed for Kan Francisco, and has been 65 dayi out to-<lay. She should bencaring her destination.
