When tho felt hattors , dispute caino liofoi-D the Arbitration Court to-day the employers challenged the bona tides oi ! the union on the ground that Hie union should consist of journeymen employed in connection with felt hat works. Atf-1 mission to n.embcrship was very restricted only eight journeymen being coinployed in felt hat works, and it was iiecessary they should bo in employment to enable tliem to be members of the union. •'Mr Cookson, representing the employers, said that in 1907 about 50 journeymen ffcro employed, against eight at preSO, nio secretary of tho union said that in January the union hud 18 members. The President said the Court was not satisfied. Tho union was not a boiia fulo one till it complied with tho Act and must receive tlio benefit of tho Act. On the-President's suggestion the dispute was referred' to the Conciliation Council. , . ' '
