MEETING OF THE PETONE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Petono Peace Celebration Committee was held in the Municipal Chambers last evening, His Worship 4he Mayor (Mr. J..W. M'Ewan) presided. Wilford accepted tho committee's invitation to givo an address at the peace celebration. Tho Acting-Prime Minister regretted that ho would be unable to give an address at the Petonn celebration, ae he would, be very much engaged on the Monday of peace wpe\ The Hon. T. M. Wilford forwarded a copy of a reply from the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding the loan of captured German trophies to the pence celebrations, to tho effect that the Director of the Dominion Museum had been authorised to lend tho necessary trophies. Tho Children's Committee reported that the amount it would require for the children's picnic was .£BO. For that sum it considered it could provide a meal for "500 children, and expend upon prizes for running events. Tho report was adopted, the committee to be given Ihfi amount required. The chairman reported Mint it woe c.'.li'/ated that the expense of tho celebrations would be approximately 0C250.
