GREAT ART SCHEME
CANADA'S WAR EFFORT MEMORIAL. 't'o avoid the monotony of long row* of.pictures stuck on a wall without relation to their setting, the Canadian War Memorials Committee, of which Lord Rolhermere is chairman, have in (land a gigantic art scheme. An eminent architect is designing a monumental building to be erected in Ottawa. The interior will consist of a series of decorative panels, forming part of a gift to. Canada, and will be designed bv ,i Canadian architect. There will be about 40 huge decorative paintings among the exhibits, which an) to be a complete record of Canada's war achievements. Among the artists commissioned to deal with tho various subiects are Major Augustus .Tohn, Majoi It. Jack, A.R.A., Captain Louis Weirter. and Mr. Eric Kennington (for great war panorama); Major D. Y. Cameron, A.E.A., and Mr. H. Stanton, B.A. (battlefields, ruins, and the like); Sir John La very. R.A., and Mr. G. Bundy. A.R.A (embarkation and debarkation); Major W. Ornen (staff groups), and Miss Anna Airy, Miss Clare Atwood. and Mrs. Laura Knight (training of soldiers and leavo ■wies), Twenty-six of the huge decorative tmintings are to be exhibited at Ihe Royal Academy.
