The annual meeting of the Lady Liverpool Fund held recently passed a grant, believed to be a substantial amount, to the Beturned Soldiers' Club, which it is proposed to erect in the city. The grant has, however, been vetoed by the Hon. G. \V. Russell, with whom decision in tlieso matters rests. Explaining the position, he said it had been dociaed that no money raided on behalf of the soldiers must; bo spent on soldiers' chilis or memorials.
