SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
Miss Y. Picktlinll was hostess at tlio concert at tho Sailors' Friend Society on Thursday. In addition to tlio songs, piano solos, choruses, and recitals, rliero wore displays of electrically-lighted clubswinging by Miss D. Harrison and jiujitsu by Professor Sims. Encores were tendered to the Misses Lang, Harrison, Eva Smith, Grillichan, Miller. Findlay, Pickthall, and Messrs. L. Kicsenburg, Manning, Edmonds, Bourdot, Griffin. Misses Piclctliall and Caddick and Mr. L. keisenburg were at the piano. Mr. Moore was supported on the platform by Messrs. Barnsdnle and Huirlies. The hostess provided light refreshments. Tho competition prizes came from Misses newson and Gates, and wore won by the Hororata, Letritn, and Argyllshire men. Cheerß and good-byes to outgoing crews closed a red-letter night. It was announced that tho swimming sports prizes won by Iho Amokura boys would bo presented in the ,institute at'next Tuesday's concert. The mission arranged a football match, which was played in the afternoon at Lynll Bay, between the s.s. Argyllshire and s.s. Hororata. Tho former won by four goals to one.
