The Miners' Conference has demanded that Parliament should withdraw tho Military Service Act— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (Roc. March 27, 7.10 p.m.) London, March 2fi. Tho Government on Tuesday declined to make any modifications in Mr. Justice Sankey's report. T'lio miners asked that the six-hour day be enforced a year earlier, and an advance of 2s. (id., instead of 2s. , Mr. Bonar Law resisted, arguing that tho miners had already gained enormous advantages through" the agency of Mr. Sankey's report. The conference will recommend the miners to continue work, pending the result oi the ballot. A resolution was carried calling on tho Government to withdraw all its forces from Russia and abandon the Services Bill, otherwise they thveatcrt -to take steps to compel its abandonment— Aus.N.Z.
