MIRAMAR BOROUGH

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL,

The Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend) presided over tho fortnightly meeting of the Miramar Borough Council, held last ovemng. There wore present Councillors S. H. Underwood, W. H. Green, H. IC. Kobertshaw, M. Tracy. ' The Worser Bay Swimming Club wroto asking the council to remit part of the rent owing on tho old pilot boathouso on Worser Bay Beaeli, which shed had been leased to tho club as a swimming shed. The building was now nsed exclusively by junior members, and the local school had the free use of tho building for two afternoons a week. The council decided to accede to the request. ■A circular from the Minister of Public, Health suggested that in view of tho probable recurrence of the influenza epidemic tho borough should hold a clean-ing-up week, and givo the district a thorough cleaning. It was decided to comply with the Minister's request, and the arrangement of the details was left in the hands of the borough engineer.

Mr. P. C. Luxford wrote asking for the extension of the 6ewage reticulation to his property in Jlorowiti Street. It was decided to hold over consideration of the inater until next. meeting to enable tho borough engineer to make certain inquiries, and to estimate costs. The 'Wellington Football Association wrote asking for the use of Seatoun Park this season. It was pointed out in the letter than there was a boys' club at Seatoun. and the club would play four teams this season. It was decided to accede to the request. Tho traffic manager of the Wellington Tramways wrote stating that an extra car would leave the Government Buildings daily at 4.56 p.m., and an extra car would leave Miramar at 7.46 a.m. daily, Sundays excepted, the running of these extra cars to begin on Monday, March 31, The council expressed satisfaction with the concession granted.
