UNIFORM SCHOOL BOOKS

Sir,—Tour correspondent "D.0.M." evidently approves of uniform school books. Perhaps he also approves of uniform school teachers, uniform parsons, uniform university professors, and uniform Press, uniform foreign news, and other German inventions. I know that uniform school books are advocated by many school committees and parents on tho score of economy, but I think that it would be a mistake for more reasons than one, and that to have uniform 6chool. books would be placing too great power in the hands of any Government, a. power which might be abused.—l am, etc.. W. J. TENNENT. Masterton.
