Dr. Valintine considered that Mies Thurston would be justified in demanding an explanation of the action, which was practically « pumraary dismissal of an officer who had rendered splendid service to the Christchurch Hospital The Department was entirely in sympathy with Miss Thurston. and was bound to protect the interests oMlioso who had gone abroad on war service. Several members of the board objected I to Dr. Valintine's intervention, claiming that tho board had control o? staff matters. The letters were received.
