LAND FOR SOLDIERS
INQUIRIES TO BE MADE IN CANTERBURY.

The Canterbury Progress League> has decided to appoint a sub-committeo to inquire regarding the suitability of any land in Canterbury that can be acquired by fne vjovernmeiit for settling returned soldiers. It was also decided to urge \',\e iilinister of Lands to open up more first-claw land iii Canterbury for settlement.' Several delegates urged that only first-class land should be offered to returned Koldien. One delegate said that the Canterbury Patriotic "Fund had found that owing to its inability to secure suitable land in Canterbury for returned soldiers it had to advance loans for': hind folic got in other districts. That he considered was a shame.
