RETURNED BUTCHERS
UNION ACCORDS A WELCOME. Members of tho Wellington Butchers' Union gathered in strength at tho Scottish Hall, Tory Street, last night, when a welcome was extended to several fellowworkers who have returned from the front. Tho names.of the returned men were; Messrs. 11. Luckmim, P. Adamson, J. Benge, J, Leckie, C. 11. Tucker, V. L. Jones, and J. Taylor. A number of master butchers weri- present by invitation 1 . The proceedings were of n very cordial nature, and were presided over by Mr. A. Needham..
Various toasts were honoured dnring tho evening, and the returned soldiers were rousiiigly cheered. Reference was made by several speakers to the happy relations existing, between masters and employees in the butchering trade, and suggestions were mado that future gatherings of the kind should bo arranged.
, An excellent musical and elocutionary programme was contributed to by Messrs. L. Fulton, A. Field, -J. Farrell, 1\ Emeuy, Mapplebeck, and Norman Aitken.
