PETONE CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Petone Football Club was held on Monday evening. The annual report shows.d that the past season ended very successfully, and the. position of the club at tiio present time could bo termed satisfactory. Teams were-entered in each grade, but none of. them was successful in gaining championship honours, this being Hie first time since 1901. They, however, were not very far behind. A very promising team was entered in the junior grade, but owing to an unfortunate grieyonce between some, of tho players thu team had to bo withdrawn. The players individually trained hard and well at the gymnasium. Twelve out of the senior fifteen were placed in representative teams. The coaches were congratulated, and thanked for their good work during the year. The balance-sheet showed a balance of £3 Bs. Id. cash in hand, and the club had no liabilities, and the assets had been increased by «£3O which was at the credit of the gymnasium fund ac count in the Post, Office Savings Bank. The thanks of the club was due to the Petono Merry Minstrels, who'gave a concert during the year with the object of raising funds to keen the gymnasium I in repair; also to the .St. John Ambulance Association for their valuable aid on the Recreation Ground, and to all who assisted the club financially and otherwise. Out of % members ulio hnd served with His Majesty's Forces twelve had made the supreme sacrifice, name y, E Clark, G. Dent, W. Duncan, L. lalla, N. Hooper, D. S. M'Farlane, W. M'Ewan W Okeby,' B. Savage, N. Thomson, 1. Thomson, and S. Marsden.. Five mem; 'hers of the club died during tho past year. George Dent and Richard Savage were killed in action fighting for the welfare' of their country and i'ellownien, and the influenza epidemic claimed three--Arthur Bennett, Rube Lindsay, and Clarence Anderson. The committee also '■regret'to record the death oi Mr. B. Mothes, one of the oldest vice-presidents and an enthusiastic follower of the game.
