Siv.-I read in your issue of to-day that the Mayor of Karori convened a mectiiiK of residents to consider what action should be taken in case ol a, recrudescence of inlluenza, and to appoint a committee of ladies and gentlemen to deal with it. I was not surprised that only five ladies attended, notwithstanding the fact that tho Mayor is a member of the Hospital Board and was pi cpared to explain the board's proposed action in the event of another outbreak, which seems sadly probable lne «■ perience of many of thoro willing wo I.crs who so generously gave their 1« , labour, and money to tight the late epidemic certainly does, not induce Uem to cmo forward again. The unfair a> discourteous manner in winch the Ileal in Department and Minister have acted towards them and the self-sacrificing doctors who helped (a.s witness the-.tast-bourne cose) has disgusted and discouraged all of us too much o hope tot nu h enthusiasm to he excited in that direction again. Hence the collapse., at Karori.-I am, etc.
