RED FLAG RIOT IN BRISBANE

There, wore disgraceful scenes in the streets during a procession from the Trades Hall to the Domain, where n meeting of protest against tho continuance of tho War Precautions Act was held. Many conilicts occurred between processionists and tho police, who endeavoured to suppress the carrying of red flags. When the Domain was reached the procession was confronted by a strong body of mounted police, but was eventually allowed to cuter. During'the night members of the procession attempted to hold a meeting, but a large body of roturnetf soldiers arrived and threatened to throw the speakers into the river, and the meeting was abandoned. Aa ihn majority of the agitators were foreigners, the soldiers proceeded to the Russian Association's rooms. When they were approaching tlireo shots were fired from the rooms, and after a detective had 'been informed that the demonstrators and Russians were armed and would fight to a finish the gathering dispersed.—Press Assn. The "Daily Express" states that the British authorities have discovered a Bolshevik plot to land emissaries and vast quantities of literature in Britain.
