IMPERIAL OFFICERS RETAINED
The Defence Department is to retain in ' its service for.some time to ccmeLieuten-ant-Colonel J. L. Sleeman, Director of , Military -Training, and Captain A. W. Brocks, M.C., Chief Instructor in Physi- '■ cal and Bayonet Training. These two ■ officers will not leave for England with \ the other Imperial' officers . who have been employed by the Defence Depart- . inent during the war. . -s The Minister of Defence (Sir James : 'Allen} stated yesterday that.it would be the general policy of the Defence Department to confer staff appointments upon New Zealand officers with war experience. But the officers must be competent to discharge tho special duties required of them, and in a few cases it would be necessary to retain Imperial officers for the present.
