CANTERBURY PRODUCE MARKET
" , By Telegraph—Press Association. Christohurcli, March 21. ■ There is a little more buying'of wheat now being <lone as the rush of deliveries that lately took place has been cleared away. It is reported that only Tuscan wheat is "being supplied to Auckland, where Australian wheat .will be available for mixing purposes. There is a good demand for fowl wheat, which is selling at-ss. 4d. to ss. 9d. per bushel at country stations. The proportion of seconds' ■wheat is very small this year, and there is very little damaged wheal. The onts market is still unsettled, though it is apparently steadier than it was. No transactions are taking place in largo lines, but thero are enough oats to be got in small lots to fill the present requirements of. the market. Forrad selling, between merchants is said to be still going on, and at lower rates than previous transactions. ■ It -is apparent that Australia will not want many oats, though it was hoped at one time that there would be ail. outlet for the surplus there will undoubtedly be this year. A few small shipments of seed oats have been mndo to Australia, but the total quantity does not amount to much. G'artons are "worth about 3s. 3d. to 3s. 4d. per bushel, and estra prime milling probably 3s. sd. to 3s. 6d. at country stations. Duns may bring 3s. to 3s. 3d., and Algerians about tile same for feed, and up/to 3s. 4d. for seed lots. There is very little doing' in oatsheaf chaff, and the price is nominally 10s. per ton at country stations. The potato market is quiet, anil few sales hnrve.yet been made. At present prices there are no present prospects of a trade with Australia, even if the embargo were lifted. The cocksfoot market is yery dull, as there is more seed offering than •merchants require. Prices range from about Gd. to Bd. per lb. The linseed market has not yet properly opened, but it. is. reported that .£l6 per ton. is being offered.
