STATEMENT BY IJIIUiCTOIt OF RAW MATERIALS.. (Jicc.' March 22, 0..'10 aim.) London, March 20Sir Arthur Goldfinch (Director of Raw .Materials at tho.War,Office), addressing the Wool Council, said- it was' estimated, that 550,000 bates would arrive duriugthe first quarter, -and in audition there were 1)72,000 Australian bales afloat, to arrive iit'tcr March 31. This was sufficient for Britain's, Franco's, Italy's, and Belgium's needs. It .was . hoped to arrange for 'still larger shipments, butthe position was not H-holly lavourablo, owing to steamers beiilg delayed or diverted for reasons connected with the movement of troops. Twenty-one-cargoes recently were landed or transhipped' in (lie Hast. The wool thus delayed was (oniarded subsequently in. such « manner as to disturb-the arrangements for its classification.
