Rumours of -influenza outbreaks in various parts of Auckland district liavd been in circulation in the .city recently, but inquiries made from tho public health and hospital authorities show that very few cases have occurred in the district during the present month. Dr. Hughes,' District Health Ofticer, suited that five cases had been notified lo the Department sinco March 11, and of these four were fi oin the country, all the patients being members of one household. Two of the cases, he said, had developed pneumonic symptoms,"but no deaths had occurred. Prior to the date mentioned there bad been one or two odd cases notified, but all were of a mild tj pe. It "was to be expected, that cases would occur from time to lime, and that these might increase- with the advent of cold weather. At present there was nothing to cause the slightest anxiety of to indicate that the complaint was likely to assume epidemic form.
