CITY MILK DEPOT

At the invitation of the City Council Milk Committee members of the Hataitai Municipal Electors' Association uero shown over the city milk dejiot last evening. The method of pasteurising the milk and tho whole system of receiving and delivering was explained to the visitors by the officers of the depot and members of the Milk Committee. The impression received by the visitors was that everything possiblo was being done to ensure a pure and sufficient milk supply for Wellington. Councillor Bennett, act-ing-chairman, in tho absenco of tho chairman, Councillor Norwood, explained the difficulties encountered a,nd overcome by the committee, and paid a tribute t-j Councillor Norwood for his fine leadership of one of tho hardest-worked committees known in council affairs.

Mr. H. W. Tolan, on behalf of the visitors, thanked tho members of the committee and tho etafF of tho depot for a very instructive evouing.. Ho felt sure that any citizen watching tho milk oome and go' from the depot would not blame the council's Milk Committee or the staff of the depot if the morning milk did not arrive fresh and pure. Councillor M'Kenzie mentioned that the butter-fat average in the depot was 25 per cent, above the standard required by the Government.

It is the intention of the Milk Committee to invito other public bodies to inspect the depot.
