•An official statement .waa issued by the Attorney-General (Sir I'ra.J icis Bell) yesterday in regard to the. | announcement | of tho result of tho liqrfor poll to be I token on April 10. The effect of paragraph (c) of subsection (1) of section 9 of ? tho Licensing Amendment Act, 1918, rei\d with section 4 of tho same Act, is t|() provide that the procedure at • the poll, , and also the procedure with respect tor) the counting of the votes, and the preliminary count, shall lie iu accordance with, t! he procedure defined by the Legislative A\ ot, 1908, and its amendments, except otalj r in regard to tlio special procedure n rovided for recording the votes of mens bers of tlio Expeditionary Forces.: ... , *2. Therefore, (&} the provis ions of section 45 of the Legislature i Amendment 'Act, DO, providing for a preliminary count of the votes at eacfli H ailing-place by each deputy returning'offiflnr; and (b) the provisions of section 137 of the Legislatnre Act, 190S (as by section 48 of the Legislature Amendment Act, 1910), providing for an annourt cement by each deputy returning officer cflr tho result of the preliminary count at filepollingbooth under his charge and fo V tho notification by telegraph to the returmn,, officer of such result, should bb obseived and complied with.
