She Is a fine roomy vessel, and what surprises tho visitor is the up-to-date accommodation provided for the crcw. Without .'doubt, Bayß the "Herald," they are the best-caterE'd-for men who have visited Auckland. Tho sailors and firemen have separate quarters, with a _ mess-boy for each department. Tho sleeping quarters arc fitted with iron oqts, and each department hai its own niesaroom. The mesarooms arc lilted with steam heaters for boiling water, nnd steam-tablcß lo keep the food hot. In hot weather thoy afe supplied with' ice-watcr' from a refrigerating plant, which also freezes tho ship's meat.
