At a meeting of the University Council the Chancoltor remarked that in the course of time the bequest to the Olago University under tho will of the late Mr. Donald Reid might bo worth X' 50,000 or more. A member pointed out that the Government subsidy was onty .£SOO. He hid never been able to discover why thsre should be any difference between a grant mado to a University during a man's litetime and a bequest, under his will. Tho Chancellor said the council ' had previously asked the Government to amend the regulations, so as to be able to give the full amount £ for .E. The matter was uferred to the Finance Committee, with a view to again asking the Government to amend the regulations.
