« 'l'ho monthly, sitting of the Petone Magistrate's Court was held yesterday before Mr. Jv. Page, S.M. For a breach of a prohibition order J. W. l'reece was fined 40s. and seven shilings costs. John Miller, for allowing a nuisance to be created at premises in Victoru Street, was fined 20s. and 17s. 6.1. costs A. H. Turner, for driving horses loose through tho borough was/ fined court costs ; only. The evidence sLgwml that, accused was leading five Iwrses. but three broke away and' gallop.xl through the streets. ; _ The Inspector Factories (Mr. F. Wilson) proceeded against Mrs. U. Woodhaul. for whom Jlr. Jackson appeared, on a charge of failing to close her shop at- ' (i p.m. on January 6. The defendant stated that -the shop was closed at 6 p.m., but her husband opened the door later on in the evening to admit a friend with whom he had private business to transact. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate inflicted a fine of ,£1 wiijh costs Bs. Bd. James O'Connor, for whom Mr. Scott appeared, was fined 50s. for permitting a motor bus fo be used in.Petone without first obtaining a license so to do. A further charge against him for failing to notify change of ownership of a niQtor w:is dismissed.

Wynyard ! for possession of house and balance due on rent. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default, possession to be given on March 2G. T. Valler was ordered to pay J. Millctt lJs.. in default twenty-four days' imprisonment, warrant to be suspended so long as debtor pays JC2 per month. JUVENILE COURT. At the Juvenile Court a lad of twelve j ye-irs was charged with using obscene ] language in a railway train, and also wi'-li oft'ensivo conduct in the carriage on the same occasion. The probation oflicer put in a plea on the boy's behalf. The' ease was adjourned for twelve months, the boy to report regularly to the probation officer. Another hoy.was charged with wilfully damaging a waterpipe and water-cook tho property of the I'etone Borough Council, and this case also was adjourned for twelvemonths, in the meantime the boy to report to the probation officer. Tho boy's parents were ordered to pay for the damage done.
