THE FLYING MAIL

CHEAP AIR TRAVEL TO THE MEDITERRANEAN.

Tho "Excelsior" recently published an interview with Colonel Lcclerc.who was appointed to establish on French territory a scheme for aerial communications. "Already," he says, "we possess machines capable of flying long distances without stopping, in nil weathers, by day and night. The type I prefer is a' large biplane equipped with four motors and of 800-horse-power, giving a speed of 112 miles an hour and carrying a load of 13 to 15c\vt. Officers will be appointed to select suitable landing places and repair depots near the large towns of France, and arrange for services of mo-tor-buses to convey passengers from thd town to the aerodrome. Stations will bo made visible by means of largo coloured boards by day and by coloured flares at night. ■ 'Tho first lines to bo opened will be: London to Marseilles, via Calais, Paris, Dijon, and Lyons, which might 1)0 continued to Corsica and Tunis: Brussels to Paris, Clermont Fcrrand, Montpellior, Barcelonia, with n possible extension to Carthagenu. and Algeria; , , Paris to Tours, Bordeaux, Bayonno and Madrid; thence to Morocco. Finally various cross lines will be established from Brest to Strasbourg and Bohemia. Nantes to Dijon and Italy. Bordeaux to Lyons. Bordeaux to Nice. Nico to Geneva. Strasbourg, Met*, Mezieres, Lille, and Calnis. The aeroplanes will carrv passengers, mails, and commercial goods. Colonel Leolerc is convinced that bofovo long an aerial journey by these lines will cost no more than tho present railway fare for tho same distance.

Dodging It—"Hubby, if I wero to die would you marry againr" "That question is hardly tair< my dear." "Why not?" "If I wero to say yes you wouldn't like it, and to say never again .wouldn't sound nice."-
