Sir.—A correspondent writing you under I'ho signature of J. 11. Farqulirir says ho has been sending out free gifts of rosemary to all people who havo suffered loss of haii', and Hint ho has received quite n, number of letters on the subject. Well, I would be obliged if you would caution people against tlie free uso of rosemary in the form your corresp6ndent recommends. Rosemary is an aromatic plant of the gomis Rosmarinus, and if used indiscriminately' or without proper knowledgo is an astringent of dangor to such a delicato thing as human hair. The astringent principle of vegetable substances il tannic acid. This acid may act finite effectively in mixtures such as Hour polishes or boot polishes, but used as a medical application lo the lioad without proper knowledge of the various other components to mix or to add or dilute with it, the results may piwo disastrous—l am, etc., K MILSOM.
