STEADY INCREASE IN' WORKING EXPE.VSES.--

As the undermentioned figures show, j tho increase in the working expenses of j our tramway's continue to exceed tile t increase in the revenue. For the four weeks ended March 2—a period of exceptionally fine weather-Hie increase in the \ rovenuo compared with tho correspond- j ing period of last year totalled. 41-100, whilst the working expenses increased by 41552; that, too, during a month when the special expenditure (chargeable to revenue) was only 4185 as compared with 4353 for the corresponding period ot last year For the iS weeks of the financial year ended March 2 the increase in revenuo wns 42704 compared with last year, but the increase in the working expenses amounted to 479GG.
