"TARZAN OF THE APES." "I'urzan of tho Anes," a rcmiirkablo picture that' is being shown hero under Williamson management, was exhibited again at tho Grand Opera House last night, Tho themo is old—a boy captured by the apes of the jungle in babyhood aiul brought up among them as a creature of the wild, untamed and primitive. But tho picture presentation of such a story is new, and tho producers, with tho assistance of a. very capable player, many wild animals, and gorgeous jungle scenery, have achieved a remarkable., degree of success. Tarzan is seen first'among tin creatures that have been the companions and teachers of his youth; then ho encounters a white girl of civilisation, and tho picture shows tho development of his human instincts and his gradual turning to tho life of his own kind. There are many thrills in tho story, and many startling incidents. Tho big picture, which is produced to the accompaniment of a full orchestra,, will bo shown every evening this week, and at a matinee on Saturday. KING'S THEATRE. An excellent programme of combined pictures and music is showing at the King's Theatre. The feature is the Select drama, "The Whirlpool," in which Alien Bradv plavs the star part. Pictures of Dav's Bay, Rona Bay, and Muntai are being shown, while Miss Ivio Rodda, the Australian contralto, contributes song items. CHAPLIN AT EVERYBODY'S. In the programme being presented this week at Everybody's Theatre there ij ample to suit all tastes. "A Dog's Life, tho first of tho million-dollar Chaplin 'film releases, gives the comedian great scope for fun-making. Gloria Swanson appears in the Triangle draina, "You Can't Believe. Everything." The climax is thrilling, and the dramatic situations are finely centred. In addition is shown episode three.of "The House of Hate.' The character sketch by Miss Flo Gott, eulHted "Ycs./Papa," is also a very entertaining item. The musical numbers by Everybody's orchestra, form not the least enjoyable feature of the bill. ' EMPRESS THEATRE. Grace Dnrraond is a very beautiful actress,'and is 6een to advantage in the Vita-graph film,,"The Girl in His House." The popular adtor Earle Williams plays opposite Grace Darmond, and has a very congenial part. The story is highly interestingi with a splendid ending. "The Rink," in which Charlie Chaplin appears is included.', on the programme, as well as a fine film showing interesting scenes of the arrival of the Main Body draft. DOLORES FAREWELL CONCERTS. The box plans for the three farewell concerts to be given by Mademoiselle Antonia Dolores in the Grand Opera House on Tuesday next and on the following Thursday and Friday evenings will be available at the Bristol Piano Company on Thursday, where seats for any or all of the concerts can be reserved. It is of interest to headmastere, headmistresses, and teachers to know that Mdlle. Dolores -is giving concessions to students and schools, particulars o£ which are obtainable at the box office. There will be an entire change of programme for each concert. Among the items to be given by Mdlle. Dolores at the opening concert are: "Chant des Croises" ("Jerusalem Mirabilis"), "Quand li Roussignol joli" (Chat de Coucy), "Robin m'aime" (Adam de la Heale), "Douce Dame joli" (Guillaume de Machault), "Plus no suis co que j'ai etc" (Clement Marot), "La Romanesca" (anon.), recit. "Guinse alfin" ("Le Nozze de Figaro"), and the aria "Deh Vieni" (Mozart), "The Tear." "The Lark," "Persian Love Song" (Rubenstein), "Waltz Song" /"Romeo et Juliette"), (Gounod), and "Irish Folk Song" (Toole). Mr. John Prmise, baritone, will sing, "0 Ship That Sailest" (ColeridgeTalor),' "Morning Hymn" (Honschel), and "Vulcan's Song" ("Philemon et Baucis"), by Gounod. Mr. Harold Smith, 1 in addition to his accompaniments, will play "An Irish R*ol" (Stanford). The programmes .have beeir arranged to suit the tastes of. all. ' CONCERT' AT Y.M.C.A. A first-class programme is promised patrons at the concert to be given in aid of the Y.M.C.A. boys' department on Friday at 8 p.m. The artists include some of Wellington's leading performers and items from boys' of the Y.M.C.A. The members of the'Figman Comedy Company arrived from the south on Sunday, and will leave for Sydney to-day, en route to Melbourne, where the new comedy, "The Tailor-made Man," is to bo produced.
