WELCOME TO RETURNED PIPERS
A large company assembled in the Scottish Hall last Friday night to welcome home a few members of the Pipe Band who have lately returned from active service. Drum-Major C. Campbcl was the genial host. Chief A. Campbell presided, and in proposing the health of the returned men said that Scotsmen the world o'er were proud, and had reason lo k> proud, of the part played by Scotland in tho great W ar. Pipers Lake and Iliirdy suitably replied. A long and varied programme of songs, dances, and instrumental music was supplied by Messrs. Bell, Dull', Savege, Stewari, Rose, Gibson, Phillpotts, and Lake. A most interesting performance of conjuring was given by Air. while,the Scottish recitations of Mr. Dick ,iud Mr. Aitken were greatly appreciated. Tho Pipe Hand rendered stirring airs, and Pipers Fmser and I'aterwm piayed a lew selections by special request. In replying to the toast of the Scottish So(jiety. Chief A. Campbell said that Ihe society wiw looking forward to'a prosperous year. The. Pipe Band was being strengthened by its returning memboirs, and the society executive had plans lor Scottish entertainments and Highland p.porls. "Auld Lung Syne" was celebrated in the "wee sma' hoors.'"
