WORK AND WAGES IN ENGLAND
COAL MINERS' EARNINGS. London, March 12. Mr. Gibson, of the South Wales Coal Owners' Association, in giving evidenco before the Industrial Conference, said that the minors' average wage throughout the United Kingdom in 19U was Bs. . 10d., and in November, 1918, 17s. per day. The Railways Executive has offered the railway men 20 per cent, above the prewar rate as the standard wage. The rail--0 way mendemand'the wartime wage to be ' made peirmanent.-~Aus.-N.f!. Cable Assn.
