ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATIONS

A. highly attractive athletic programme has been prepared for the St. Patrick's Day sports oil .Monday next. Two events have been placed 011 the programme for amateur athletes, viz., 100 yard!! and 220 yards handicaps. . In connection with the relay race for primary schools, Mr. Arthur Law has added to the prize, trophies a silver cup valued at J;10 10s., which will lie competed for annually and cannot be won outright. A feature of (lie afternoon's performance will he a spectacular display by about 1000 children. The display will take the form of a harp, and will be outlined by girls with yellow flags, and boys with green (lags. Eev. Brother Eusebius, of Thorndon, is supervisor. The dancing events commence at 1.30 p.m., and should occupy tho whole of the afternoon. ■ 111 the baby show the ages for botli sexes have been fixed up to 9 and 18 months. <1 surprise packet scheme will bo conducted by ill'; O. J. PfnlT, and as a popular price of sixpence has been fixed he and his assistants expect a ready sale.

Tho Wellington Natives' Association Band lias been selected to render band music during the day and head the procession, which leaves Boulcott Street at 9.30 a.m.

The officials appointed are:—Starter, Mr. W. G. Callender; judges, Messrs. J. P. M'Gowan, J. J. L. Binio, and M. J. Reardon; supervisor of procession, Mr. J. Humphrey; judges of tableaux, Major llalpin and Mr. M. J.'Beardon; judge of processional walking, Captain T. Davis; judge of dancing, Mr. D. M'Phec; judge of baby show, matron of St. Helen's Hospital ; director of sports celebrations, Mr. 11. M'Keowen; general secretary, Mr. P. D. Hoskins; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. J. L, Burke; chairman, Mr. J. P. M'Gowan.

In the evening the grand national concert is to take place in the large Town Hall. The prices of admission are:— 3s. (reserved),-2s. and Is. (limited).
