MASTER PLUMBERS' CONFERENCE
The conference of the Master Plumbers Association of New Zealand opened at Wellington yesterday. Mr. W. S. Fisher, of Auckland, is president, and there is a representative attendance of delegates, The .annual report and balance-sheet showed tho federation to be in a very satisfactory condition. Many important matters connccted with the trade m relation to tho Plumbers' Registration Act, combined with that of a shortage _ of registered plumbers through war service, demanded tho attention of the. executive, in the interests of public health. A serious factor the trade had to face was the general shortage of labour and high costs of plumbers' material^ The necessity for obtaining uniform conditions of supervision at the plumbers board examinations throughout the Dominion was considered. It was decided that of tho federation should give overv facility towards assisting returned soldier plumbers to reoccupv their former employment. It was aIBO "decided to urge the Government to establish a class of instruction for returned men as plumbers on similar lines to other classes, as at present conducted at Rotorua. The conference will sit for business tins morning, and in the aftornoon will take part in a game of bowls on the Wellington green against rinks composed of painters and builders.
