AWARDS AMENDED

PLTOIBERS, GOACBMAKERS, AND - BOILERMAKERS. Amendments recently made •by tbff Court of Arbitration in the Wellington plumbers and gasfitters', Wellington ooachworkers', and Wellington boilermakers and iron-ship builders' awards are given below-.— With regard to plumbers and gasfitters the Court orders: "The minimum, wage for. a plumber or gosfvtter registered under the Plumbers Registration Act, 1912, shall be Is. 7Jd. per-hour, and for all other' journeymen Is. 6Jd. per hour. In addition there shall be paid to the beforementioned workers a bonus of 2M". per hour." ' The order takes effect from March 31. . : The order relating to coachworkers is: "Wages shall be paid on an hourly basis. The wageVfor journeymen coachworkers shall not be less than Is. 7|d. per hour. Wages shall be paid in full weekly or fortnightly, and within ten minutes after the hour for cea6ing work. In. addition to the above wages there shall be paid to the journeymen , a bonus of 21d. per hour, An apprentice having completed his term of apprenticeship may be emI ployed as an improver for two consecutive years after the expiration of his apprenticeship either by the employer with whom he has been apprenticed or by any other employer at not less than Iβ. 3d. per hour for the first twelve months and l<f.' 4}d. per hour for the next twelve months. The minimum wages of helpers shall be as follows:—From the age of 15 to 16 years, 15s. per week; 16 to 17, 205.; 17 to'lß, 255.; 18 to 19, 30a; 19 to 20, 355.; 20 to 21. 405.; over 21, Is. 3d. per hour. Extra helpers above the number specified may be taken on at not less.than Is. 3d. per hour." The order takes effect from March, 31. The Court amends the award of the boilermakers and iron-ship builders by ordering the payment of an additional war bonus of lid. per hour. The order takes effect as from February 3 of this year.
