HON. T. M. WILFORD AT WESTPORT
By Telcerapli—Press Association. Westport, March 8. Tho Hon. T. 11. Wilforf, Minister ol Marine, arrived ill "Westport to-day and attended the eev*;nth annual show of the Buller A .and P. Association. Mr. Wilford delivered an address, in the course of which ho frankly admitted that he was a North Islander converted to the necessity for the speedy completion of tho Westport-Ecefton railway. The Minister stated that while coming down the Gorgo ho w.i 9 taken into a coal mine just off the roadside, and had other data placed before him in regard to the coal measures in the Gorgo, and ho recognised that the completion of (ho railway was a national necessity. In this connection it may bo mentioned that tho Parliamentary Industries Committee, whioh also made an inspection of tho mine in the Bttllor Gorge, was shown coal taken from a seam that, dips right under the rock of tho projected railway, and stated it was a national crime that Westport was not linked up with that coalfield. To-night tho Minister of Marine is meeting in committee the Westport Harbour Board.
