PLEA FOR LATEST METHODS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, March 9. A deputation representing the Mining Association waited on Sir James Allen at Lawrence urging assistance for the mining industry. The deputation suggested that a departmental mining engineer or other expert bo sent abroad with a view to learning the most approved methods of treatment of alluvial material in a wholesale manner; also that information be gathered from nil gold-producing countries regarding methods of treatment and recovery of gold, especially relating to alluvial deposits, and maae available to all those engaged in gold-mining, Tho Minister promised to aiscu6s the matters with the Minister of Mines.
